BEP Version

Mike contacted me and said he wanted one more thing changed before he could release my final payment. In the Help Screen\Technical Support page there is an email address that also has a "" text portion. He wanted me to remove this section. The problem is that MS Word is trying to be helpful and automatically puts in the "" tag even when I try to make the email address appear as normal text (without a hyperlink). This didn't work so I tried a plain textfile that was named with a .rtf extension. This worked but the text didn't look like the other help screens. I then got an idea to open up the .rtf file in notified. There were a bunch of weird rtf formatting tags but after a few trials and errors I was able to make it show up properly without the "" tag. I then build a new English version and posted it on my website for Mike to download. The Spanish version wasn't retranslated so it still has all the standard CK3 stuff including Zoogma's contact info but Mike didn't want to pay to retranslate it.

I can now easily switch between CK3 versions to either look like the normal standard CK3 program one or the customized BEP one. This will make it easier to do bug fixes once and update both programs at the same time (since they are now really the same version with a different flag).

The following are the differences...

• Shows a different Splash Screen graphic for each version
• Shows either the fancy custom graphic buttons that I created for BEP version or standard gray buttons on Splash Screen. I would like to use the fancy buttons everywhere but Mike at BEP wanted to make sure that only his version has them.
• Shows a different About Screen depending on what mode it's running in

I also updated the standard English install (copied the BEP version) so that it no longer automaticallys runs the DirectX check every time CK3 is run (this was causing security problems on WinXP for non Admin users)

Update Captain Keyboard for Topics

Teri is begging me for an update to CK3 so that it will be ready for Topics to sell it hopefully to Target and Walmart. Even though they are talking big order numbers her commission is so tiny that it hardly seems worth it but it's not selling too well on it's own now so I guess it's better than nothing. I haven't heard how BEP is doing with it.

I initially refused to do any work until she made a payment to help pay off her debt but she played the poor card and I decided that I won't make any more money unless she makes some money. I compromised and told her if she prepaid me for two hours that I would do the work. She PayPaled me the money (I ate the fee) . Tomorrow night I'll take out the BEP specific stuff so that she can have the latest CK3 version that contains a few bug fixes. Here's to big sales numbers!
